Additional Actions Needed to Improve Financial Management of Military Equipment

The GAO found that weaknesses that impaired the Department of Defense's ability to identify, aggregate, and account for the full cost of military equipment it acquires through major defense acquisition programs (MDAP). The GAO made recommendations intended to strengthen these weaknesses by defining departmentwide cost accounting requirements, management, and support.
